One on One: Ogie Alcasid

I am so thrilled about this weeks One On One... My wife and I are huge fans of Ogie Alcasid. So when he agreed to take part and do this I was so excited to say the least. Like a kid in a candy store... For real. Ogie is beyond talented at what he does: singer, song writer, actor, entrepreneur. Watching Ogie on the weekly show Bubble Gang is a real joy.

He is hilarious!!! His music is incredible and he has a beautiful family; not to mention a super talented, super beautiful wife Regine Velasquez.  Let's get started with Ogie's One On One...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chef D: I was reading through your biography and you pretty much dabble in a little everything in your career... singing, producing shows and movies... you have a career outside of show business as well with a restaurant and a chain of hot dog stalls "Oggie Doggie", and the list goes on. Is there something left that you haven't tried yet in your career that you are planning on doing? Are you working on any upcoming projects that you can share with us?

Ogie: At this point, I am quite happy where I am and pretty much just paying it forward. I would go for any advocacy that I can involve myself with granted that my schedule permits it. I have three new shows on Tv5: "Tropa moko unli" which is a comedy show, "Mega and the Songwriter" which is a musical, and "The Gift-a" drama series.

Chef D: You and your lovely wife Regine Velasquez are loved by fans worldwide.

When traveling different cities and countries do you get the same love and respect by the fans everywhere? Are you recognized wherever you go? And when you do travel are you given the respect of your privacy. It must be hard having personal time since you're so well known.

Ogie: People do recognize us abroad when there are Filipinos and they are generally very respectful. Having photos taken with them is a welcome treat. This is the least we could do for them.

Chef D: Are your children interested in following you and Regine's footsteps? You have beautiful kids. Your little guy Nathaniel is adorable... love the pics that Regine posts on Twitter.

Ogie: The kids really have music in their blood and it is really up to them what they wish to do with their careers provided that they prioritize their relationship with God.

Chef D: When you guys are home, what is the one dish that is made the whole family loves and can you share the recipe with us... I'm such a huge fan of Filipino foods. We were there two years ago, we loved it! So looking forward to coming back next year!

Ogie: We love the basic Pinoy foods. Adovo, tuyo, danggit, longganisa, etc.

Homemade Longganisa (Filipino Sausage)

Makes: 16 portions

Ingredients:

3 tbsps. light soy sauce
2 tbsps. Red wine or dry sherry
1 tbsp. crushed garlic
3 tbsps. brown sugar
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 tbsps. oil
1 1/2 pounds of minced pork

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, blend the soy sauce, wine, sugar, garlic, black pepper and oil together. You can omit the oil if your pork is fatty enough. Add in the minced pork and stir very well in one direction until the mixture becomes pasty.

Transfer to a glass container cover and refrigerate for three days to cure.

Divide the mixture into 16 portions. Shape each into a sausage shape.

You can pan fry the sausages for 10-15 minutes until cooked through and browned.

I like wrapping them in greased foil and baking in a 350° F/180° C oven for 20 minutes for a better shape then pan frying them until browned.
